Sunday, September 29th, 2013: Boss Moanaroa, the talented Salem first baseman, certainly made his name known among Carolina League hurlers this season. He hammered them for 147 hits, 30 doubles, no triples, 17 home runs, 86 RBIs and scored 103 times. That kind of output made him the choice for Carolina League Outstanding Hitter Award for 2013. |
 | Top Pitcher Trophy Won by Keys Palácios
Saturday, September 28th, 2013: The Frederick clubhouse staff referred to him as "the kid" this season. Next year Roberto Palácios will have to have a new nickname. He earned it after winning the 2013 Carolina League Outstanding Pitcher Award.
Palácios made 27 starts this year, winning 16 and losing 6. He threw 174 innings, fanned 159, allowed 164 hits and 62 walks, while holding opposing teams to a .245 average as he logged an impressive 3.47 ERA. |
