Tuesday, June 6th, 2017: Matt Albers of the Columbus Clippers was masterful today, pitching a 2-hit 6-0 shutout against the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs and giving his bullpen a rest by going the distance.
According to his manager, "He had command of every ball and every pitch... great location, too." Albers had 5 strikeouts and issued 3 walks in an impressive outing.
Up to now Albers has recorded a record of 3-2. In 2 starts he has fanned 17 batters in 28.1 innings with a 4.45 ERA. |
 | Soto Gets Shutout
Tuesday, June 6th, 2017: In an outstanding outing, Félix Soto tamed Syracuse on a 3-hit shutout. The Buffalo hurler went the distance, finishing with 7 strikeouts and no walks in the 4-0 win.
"He had a lot of first pitch strikes and kept us off balance with a lot of off-speed stuff," according to the Syracuse manager. "We just didn't get too many balls squared up today."
So far this year Soto has made 12 starts, tossed 90.2 innings, struck out 50 batters and walked 16. His record is 5-3 with a 3.38 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .266 batting average. |

Monday, June 5th, 2017: What a week it was for Stan Thompson! The Columbus center fielder took International League Player of the Week honors after wearing out the pitchers with a .440 batting average in his recent games.
Thompson registered 11 hits in 25 at-bats as he cracked 3 home runs and drove in 4 runs.
This year Thompson is hitting at a .302 pace with 12 home runs and 35 RBIs. He has played in 54 games and scored 36 times. |
